Policy and planning for the school library

Practical training on effective school library policies and development plans.

Anne provides courses on school library policy and planning for the primary or secondary sector, or for both. Her training is appropriate for school librarians, literacy coordinators, library coordinators, teachers and teaching assistants with responsibility for the library. Anne always tailors her training to local circumstances and learner needs.

By the end of the course participants will have:

  • learnt more about Ofsted priorities and other current educational issues and their implications for library policy
  • explored the importance of a school library policy and development plan and how they link to other school policies and practices
  • identified the aims and objectives of their school library
  • identified appropriate topics to cover in the policy and plan
  • started to construct an appropriate library policy and a practical and workable library development plan for their school
  • formulated ideas for monitoring the policy and plan
  • gained greater confidence in managing and developing the library
