Reading for pleasure at key stages 1 and 2

Anne gives lots of CPD training and inset on enhancing enthusiasm for reading at KS1&2.

Her courses focus on practical strategies for promoting reading enjoyment across the whole curriculum, in the classroom, the library and beyond, and for developing the reading ethos and culture in schools.

Anne's courses are appropriate for literacy leaders, class teachers, support staff and library staff. They work well as regional or local authority training and as whole school inset. Anne tailors all her courses to delegate needs and client requirements. She provides face-to-face and online training.

Expected learning outcomes include:

  • greater awareness of what motivates children to read and what puts them off
  • the context in terms of latest research, Ofsted and the national curriculum
  • ways to encourage reading for pleasure in the classroom and beyond
  • methods for exploiting cross-curricular opportunities and the creative curriculum
  • new ideas for fostering reading enjoyment through the library and book corners
  • innovative strategies for exploiting books and other materials effectively
  • greater knowledge of appropriate resources for encouraging reading
  • ideas for supporting parents and carers and for family literacy

Participants receive comprehensive information packs.

What an inspiring start to the new year! So much food for thought. I look forward to new and improved approaches that will bring literary joy into all our lives.

More than anything, today's inset made me think about how I can support children with their reading, and, more importantly, make reading interesting and exciting for those who are not keen readers.

Excellent course - so many ideas! Nice to get our hands on real books too!

Really nice to explore a range of books, especially discussing the benefits of wordless books, videos, ICT etc.

So much new information to take back and share. What a wonderful way to begin to think about reading.

An excellent day for discussion, sharing of ideas and some inspiring ideas to take back and continue to help to cultivate a love of reading in our school.

Brilliant! Chance to talk and share ideas. Chance to listen to expertise, advice and experience. I’ve got a long list of ideas for classroom, library, staff development.

The very best course I’ve ever attended.

Brilliant! I would highly recommend Anne's reading for pleasure course to all.
