Reading in the early years foundation stage

Anne offers a range of training on encouraging reading and pre-reading skills during the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Her courses explore inclusive methods for helping young children towards a love of books, and for laying the foundations for happy and successful reading.

Anne always tailors her training to local circumstances and needs. Her EYFS courses are suitable for national, regional and local authority training, and as inset.

What people say about this training

Brilliant course. Can't wait to put our ideas into practice.

Thank you for an inspirational day with many new insights. Very valuable to spend time planning ideas for some of the books - interesting to share ideas with colleagues, and to be challenged by the way some issues were dealt with in such a unique, creative way.

I am leaving with a ton of ideas, a view on where I want reading to go in my setting, and next steps.

Excellent. Varied and pacy with a good mix of talking, listening, discussion, looking at images and books. Great to look in detail at books and brainstorm ideas for possible learning.

Fantastic, inspiring day. Lots of ideas for activities.

It has made me think more about planning my environment to suit the children, to help them take more of an interest in reading/sharing books.

Anne shows her love and understanding about how we can support children's love of books in a very positive inclusive way.

It's been an absolute joy. You continue to inspire and keep me focused on being mindful of being sensitive within families. Love the range of carefully chosen books and how well you present this course.

Inspiring, eye-opening, interactive and very useful!

Feel much more confident now to try and help children to read.

I now know how to encourage parents with their child's reading, how to answer their questions constructively.

Anne was wonderful, inspiring and her passion for reading is infectious.

A lovely. inspiring course. Great discussions. Have come away with lots of ideas to get children enthusiastic about reading.

Using one book to generate planning across the curriculum was really useful.

The course made me think about how books can develop readers, what types of books and activities to use to work towards achieving this.

Very enjoyable and worthwhile. Interesting to hear other views on books and how other settings encourage enjoyment.

Exciting and fun.

Today has made me think about things differently.

Very useful! Lovely to share with others and gather ideas to use in our school. Lovely selection of books which can be used in our curriculum.

Very interesting. Lovely balance of being spoken to and interactive group work. Great ideas shared. Felt very friendly and made large group work relaxed and easy.

Really highly enjoyable with many useful ideas to the back to our setting. The breaking down of how children begin to become receptive towards books was very helpful.

Tip top!! I was transfixed from beginning to end.
