About Anne Harding

Anne is an independent trainer, specialising in children’s and young people’s reading, children’s and school libraries and museum provision for young people.

She set up her training business in 1996 after completing a master’s degree.

Anne worked in libraries for fifteen years prior to that, including as children’s librarian, library manager, area manager, outreach manager and manager of young people’s library services.

Anne has been a family literacy tutor for many years. She regularly works with children in school and library contexts.

Anne's experience includes eight years as a school governor, with three as literacy governor, and many years teaching literature to adults in evening classes.

She was a member of the advisory boards for the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Reading and Libraries Challenge Fund and the DCMS/Wolfson Public Libraries Challenge Fund.

Anne is a fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts. She is a judge for the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative.

Anne's training methods

The aim of all Anne’s training is to improve provision and support for children and young people by building on and developing delegates' skills, knowledge, confidence and performance.

Each course is unique, as Anne works closely with clients to ensure that the training she provides for them matches their requirements and is appropriate to local circumstances and learner needs.

Anne is very experienced in working at every level from the practical to the strategic.

Her courses are packed with up-to-date information and successful strategies to improve provision for children and young people.

All her courses are fully participative, with opportunities throughout to share ideas and good practice. She uses a variety of techniques to cater for all learning styles.

All courses are accompanied by extensive sets of handouts, including background information, effective strategies, policy ideas, weblinks and suggestions for further research and reading.

Anne's courses and training are under constant revision and development, to take account of new policies, latest research and national initiatives.

She is very happy to design new courses.
