Modern Parenting: Policy, Politics and the Illusion of Equality

For anyone interested in parenting, you can watch a video of a fascinating debate held recently at the Royal Society for the Arts. The speakers were Rebecca Asher, journalist and author of Shattered: Modern Motherhood and the Illusion of Equality, Jack O’Sullivan, who wrote the He’s Going to have a Baby: the BBC Guide to Fatherhood and Adrienne Burgess, Head of Research at the Fatherhood Institute. Discussion focused on the extent to which parenthood drives both fathers and mothers into stereotyped gender roles, the reasons for this, the impact on parents, children and on society generally, and ideas for change.
